As a significant effort towards country's development largely from the agricultural sector, the country's first Integrated Oil Palm Processing Unit by 3F Oil Palm, one of India's largest Oil Palm Development Companies started its operations and functioning in Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh.

This factory has been located in the lower part of the Dibang valley of the State and works towards 'Mission Palm Oil' which represents a crucial step in achieving self-reliance in edible oils in collaboration with the efforts by the National Mission on Edible Oils - Oil Palm (NMEO-OP).

This project will include an Oil Palm Factory which shall be the processing and refining unit of palm oil with almost negligible effluent cost and additional support structures. This factory marks the first Oil Palm Factory in Arunachal Pradesh and India's first Oil Palm Factory under NMEO-OP.

This 3F Oil Palm Processing Unit was virtually inaugurated by our Prime Minister on March 9 during the 'Vikisit Bharat, Viksit North East" program held at Itanagar. In this very event, PM laid down the foundation for various projects that held a worth of over Rs 55,000 crore and establishing the commitment of the government towards the development of the North East.

The Director of the 3F Oil Palm Pvt Limited, stated, 'With the expansive demand of edible oils in the country, palm oil has become an essential component for food security.' The beginning of factory operations are also coupled with the objective of encouraging domestic oilseeds production.

The region of North-East holds tremendous possibilities for palm oil production. Increasing investment in the region shall increase employment opportunities and income benefits to the people. 3F Oil Palm is expected to play a crucial role in the economic development of the country as a whole.

In the State, some lakh hectares of land has been identified that's suitable for Oil Palm Cultivation. It's quite surprising but only 4% of potential in North East has currently been deployed for Oil Palm Development.

3F-Oil Palm is also the first oil palm company to provide agricultural inputs to farmers. These initiatives are expected to increase the yield and encourage more plantations across the State.

The event marking the ceremonial start of commercial production of palm oil was graced by former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Mukut Mithi, Dambuk MLA Tayeng and State's Agriculture and Horticulture Secretary Bidol Tayeng, among others.

This effort shall help the State and the country together to head towards a transformative development of the region as a whole.
