Diganta Das of Assam has set a precedent for others, on how to deal with the challenges of life and the issues of a financial crisis.

Diganta hails from Assam's Gohour who went to Bengaluru in 2012 in search of a job. He worked in different occupations such as that of a carpenter, painter, and even a security guard. Earning good wages, he was much satisfied with his job in Bengaluru.

This very year, he and his friend collaborated together and joined a company which made readymade food including dosa, idli, and parota. He and his friend worked as parota makers in the company. They learnt the entire process of making parota and also assessed the market thoroughly.

Before the pandemic outbreak, both of them left for Andhra Pradesh where they started their own food company with their savings. But due to the financial recession, he lost his savings and subsequently lockdowns halted his work. Finding no alternative, he returned back to Assam. He was so much financially distressed that he couldn't even fulfill the wishes of his daughter.

Only to settle for a job as soon as possible, he joined any job which came his way. With social and kinship ties, he managed to get a job of a carpenter with daily wages of Rs 200 - Rs 300. But the wages were too low to sustain the entire family of six.

The pandemic severely hit him but he was determined to come out of the situation definitely.

In 2021, he wondered if his parota-making skills could come into use. Diganta called one Farizul Hoque of Assam's Udalguri district, who runs a similar project in Bengaluru, Kerala, Mysore, and Hyderabad. Accordingly, he discussed his plan with the community.

Fortune favours the brave. Diganta now has a total of 10 employees, two of them hail from Nepal, and the rest come from Assam. He has also recruited some salesmen as also members of his project. He is currently supplying parota to Sonitpur, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, and Tinsukia districts.

Examples of people like Diganta are there to prove time and again that no matter how many hurdles life throws your way, you can make your way out of them.
