The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden
The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden in Kashmir will have 15 lakh followers of different varieties on display starting next week. It's in full bloom and is set to be opened to visitors on March 19. The garden was earlier known as Siraj Bagh. This iconic garden is nestled between Dal Lake and Zabarwan Hills in Srinagar, Kashmir.
This park was first opened in 2008 by then-Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad to actually meet the set influx of tourists during the period between the winter and summer seasons in the valley.
Starting with some 50,000 flowers, the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden had come to be a great exhibit of 15 lakh tulips including hyacinths, daffodils, and ranunculus - which is going to be on display for visitors next week.
The in-charge of the Srinagar site told himself, 'We are continuously expanding the garden and introducing new varieties.'
This year the idea of a fountain channel has been introduced which will serve as an example of promoting garden professionalism across the globe.
Although the tulip bloom lasts for some three to five weeks, the staff is ceaselessly working throughout the year to maintain the quality of the tulip bulbs. The staff is busy throughout the year with multiple tasks such as preparation for harvesting and the tulip bloom in the March-April season and simultaneously also examining the tulips for any diseases.
Visiting hours are open every day between the time bracket of 9 am to 7 pm. It is open to the public from the end of March until the end of April. However, the opening and closing timings may vary.
The entry fee to the garden is INR 60 per person for the people of the country. The entry fee is chargeable for any person who is anyone above the age of 5 years. While the entry fee for any foreigner is INR 150 per person.
The Tulip Festival would start on March 19th, 2023. However, the festival dates may change due to weather conditions. Flowers of different colours, fragrances, and varieties are being continuously extended. This carpet of flowers serves as a great treat for the eyes of the viewers.
The arrival of the spring season as it is conveys the spring of a new life. The aesthetics created due to the bloom of the flowers is actually stimulating strengths of rejuvenation for everyone.
