As the consecration of Ayodhya Ram Temple draws close, the Braj region of Mathura associated with Mirabai and Krishna assumes prominence as with the BJP Governments at Centre and in UP collaborating for ambitious development projects that will cover parts of Western UP, Rajasthan and Haryana.
The process which started with the setting up of 'Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad' appeared to be in full vigour when PM Modi reached Vrindavan to participate in the 525th birth anniversary of Mirabai, the Bhakti Saint and ardent Krishna devotee.
PM Modi remarks, 'We are moving with a sense of pride in our cultural heritage. Today, Vishwanath Dham maintains it's grandeur in a grand form in Kashi. Divinity can also be witnessed at the Mahakal Temple of Ujjain. Lakhs of people are blessed by the Darshana of Kedarnath.'
He added that in this process, Mathura and Braj will not be left behind in this race of development. The day is not far when God will be seen with more divinity and grandeur in the Braj region.
People there in Mathura lacked the sense of India's glorious past. They could not rid themselves of the mental slavery and deprived Braj Bhoomi of development.
The focus on Mathura coincides with activism of Hindu groups to claim ownership of Krishna Janmabhoomi land.
The PM's participation is significant also from the view of Rajasthan polls as Mirabai hailed from the Mewar region of Rajasthan.
Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad formed for the region's integrated development is handling projects worth Rs 425 crore.
The region also has a rich tradition of medieval Bhakti poetry, particularly Mirabai's. And this is no normal place....in every grain of soil, there is Krishna. PM Modi draws his connection with Krishna from being drawn with Gujarat and Mathura.
