In the 16th edition of the QS World University Rankings: Asia 2024, 856 institutions are showcased from 25 countries and territories.
India is now the most represented higher education system with 148 featured universities followed by China with 133 and Japan with 96.
Peking University tops the rankings for another year as the region's best university.
The Vice President of the QS remarks that this year's ranking is the largest ever featuring a record number of Asian Universities. It not only reflects a well-built competitive system of higher education but at the same time is also the granular analysis of its institutions, allowing informed selection and targeted improvements by the region's policymakers.
Peking University secures the highest in 'Academic Reputation' and 'Employer Reputation' alongside 'Staff with Ph.D.'. The University of Hong Kong also makes a massive climb within categories of International students.
China's research impact makes it the most influential research hub in Asia. Malaysia has an exceptional concentration of top-quality universities. Universities in Japan are among the most prestigious in the region both for academics and employers. Kazakhstan is the only Central Asian country with an institution listed among the top 100.
Asian Higher Education continues to expand exponentially and remains one of the fastest-growing sectors in the world. Multiple socio-economic factors are working in tandem to fit in the environment for higher education and learning.
