Subhashree Sahu, a Class IX student at Paramita Heritage School in Karimnagar, has designed a multi-function eco-friendly agro machine that will be of great benefit to the agricultural sector.

She was recently awarded at the CBSE National Exhibition 2022-23 in Delhi, held from February 7th to 9th, which was organised by the Central Board of Secondary Education. Her project was awarded the title of the best project under the theme of environmental concern and management among CBSE schools across the country.

Subhashree's innovative agro machine was first showcased at the CBSE regional-level science exhibition held at Chirec International School, Hyderabad on December 8 and 9, 2022 under the guidance of her mentor Lalit Mohan Sahu. Securing first place under this environment-related theme, she was selected to participate in the CBSE National Science Exhibition.

At the national level exhibition, some 552 winning teams from the regional rounds at 35 venues across the country and overseas participated. An expert panel of around 20 judges from CSIR and DRDO reviewed each project for three rounds before declaring the winner.

She adds herself, 'It was a huge motivation for me to design and think of such an innovative theme for the project'.

The project guide explains that there are four main reasons as to why farmers are not using modern machines. They are not portable, not affordable and non-functional in nature, and not eco-friendly, causing both air and sound pollution. If at all, the farmer gathers all these facilities and deals with the challenges, they still face challenges such as power management and the high cost of maintenance.

Students such as Subhashree Sahu are actually making this statement true that the youths of the country are the future of the country. In an age, where students are found to be completely detached from the agricultural sector, they feel shame to even bring this topic up in discussion. But at the same time, students such as Subhashree are keen enough to cater to the needs of the agricultural and allied sectors. Promotion of agricultural research and development of modern techniques is the need of the hour.
