  • It is implemented by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, funded under the revamped Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA).

  • The main point of this initiative is to provide access to services using technology in sectors like health, education and other critical sectors of well-being.

Begusarai has become the first district in Bihar to equip all Gram Panchayats with Wi-Fi services. The Union Minister for Panchayati Raj and Rural Development, Shri Giriraj Singh has emphasized on the importance of technology for the betterment of rural communities. He underlined many initiatives launched under the Central Government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the aim of digital empowerment.

The political leader summoned the residents and representatives of the district to come together for overall rural development. He highlighted that technology has the potential for making a village smarter than ever before.

To meet to the dynamic needs of the village and the Panchayat, technology is going to have an all-pervasive influence. Sustained and strategic efforts should be coupled together for overall development of the rural areas.

User-friendly and uninterrupted Wi-Fi services and highlighting its significance to the rural society. Different segments of rural society such as women self-help groups, children, Aajveeka Didis, banking correspondents and farmers.

He also mentions that this effort shall be pivotal in deciding the course and aims of Viksit Bharat. The rise of the tertiary sector will definitely boost the GDP and will at the same time lead to the growth of primary and secondary sectors too.

PM-WANI scheme aims to bolster internet connectivity, promoting the idea of Digital and Self-reliant India. This scheme attempts to counter the digital divide and reform the socio-economic landscape of India.

The introduction of technology in Gram Panchayat will actually lend some legitimacy and confidence to the idea of democratic decentralization. Different sectors such as education, health, agriculture, governance and skill development shall be catalyzed and be given an impetus with the bridging digital inequality. The target groups and beneficiaries are easily identified and the corruption of the middlemen is ended. Records maintenance and overlapping or fabrication of data become out of the question.

PM-WANI scheme is reformative and revolutionary in character for it both step technology for development and revolutionary because it aims to bring a rapid change in such a short period where the country itself is developing.
