Recently, a Muslim man named Tipu Sultan saved the life of a young girl named Monali Kaushal from Madhya Pradesh. The reports have suggested that the girl was trying to commit suicide by jumping into the Shipra River.
Tipu Sultan who was among the people who witnessed the incident asked the passing trucks for a rope and one trucker. Fortunately, he was provided the necessary things. The locals gathered around but none of them dared to extend help to the girl.
Tipu used the rope to lower himself into the river and reached Monali and found that the latter was still alive. He managed to get first aid for the girl and she was rushed to the hospital immediately. Thereafter, she turned stable but the reasons as to why she was trying to kill herself are still unknown.
Tipu's quick action and bravery saved Monali's life and his action is being celebrated as an example of the best of humanity. Amid the climate of religious polarisation, the incident has highlighted the ability for people of different faiths to come together in times of crisis. Furthermore, this incident has sparked off the need to emphasize on issues such as mental health. As a mark of appreciation, Tipu has been a promised a cash reward by the government of Madhya Pradesh for his act of valour.
Amidst the systematic hate and despair in society, it is important to showcase some real-life examples which will help to strengthen the bedrock of the Indian Constitution and it's ideals. These instances are a testimony of the fact that Indians continue to reject hateful and divise agendas.
Let's reinvigorate India's everyday lived reality, and collectively uphold and defend a unique pluralism, a diverse culture and truly secular values.
