In night's deep cloak, the mind does stray,
Where trust once bloomed, now falls away.
A serpent's hiss, a lover's lies,
The moon bears witness to tear-stained eyes.

"A bird in hand," or so they say,
Yet you let the truest heart decay.
The whispers cold, the truth withheld,
In silence, all our dreams dispelled.

Fair words like honey from your lips,
But poison laced your fingertips.
To love, I gave both heart and soul,
Yet you left my cup half-full, not whole.

"All that glitters is not gold,"
Yet in your eyes, the tale was sold.
A house of cards, a fleeting dream,
Built upon lies, or so it seems.

The hour is late, the candle wanes,
No balm to ease these burning pains.
"Trust once broken," the wise men speak,
"Is like a vase, forever weak."

You danced with shadows, cloaked in lies,
I chased the truth in empty skies.
"Fool me once," the sages cry,
But thrice I forgave, though none know why.

Beneath your smile, a hollow ring,
A "wolf in sheep's clothing," promising spring.
The winter of your heart froze mine,
Now love's a barren, brittle vine.

"A stitch in time," they often say,
Yet you let love's fabric fray.
In tangled threads of your deceit,
I found the path to my defeat.

A "fool for love," I played the part,
Yet yours was but a counterfeit heart.
You held me close, then let me fall,
A prisoner within love's wall.

"The pot that boils," untouched by heat,
So too did you my heart mistreat.
Where once your words were gentle, sweet,
Now bitter echoes, incomplete.

You cast your net with promises bright,
But "many fish" were in your sight.
I, the catch you chose to keep,
Yet you swam elsewhere in the deep.

"Still waters run deep," they say,
But your depths were fraught with clay.
Muddied truth, a shifting shore,
Till I could bear your lies no more.

"A house divided cannot stand,"
And neither could our once-held hand.
A fortress built on empty vows
Is one that topples, weak with bows.

"The darkest hour," it came too soon,
My love eclipsed beneath your moon.
Now sleepless nights my mind does roam,
For in your heart, I found no home.

"A penny saved is a penny earned,"
Yet love lost cannot be returned.
The debts of trust you could not pay,
Now haunt the coldest break of day.

"Castles in the air" we built,
But soon they crumbled under guilt.
Your words, like wind, did shift and turn,
Now I watch our dreams both crash and burn.

"Old habits die hard," as they declare,
But I will no longer linger there.
The heart that breaks can mend again,
Though yours, in lies, shall still remain.

"Time heals all wounds," or so they teach,
Yet scars of love still seem to reach.
But wiser now, with eyes unclouded,
No longer in your shadows shrouded.

"The truth shall out," though hidden deep,
Beneath the lies, the secrets creep.
Yet through the night, the dawn does rise,
And I am free from all disguise.

"What is done cannot be undone,"
But I will find the brighter sun.
For though you left me in the dark,
I'll carry forward love's true spark.
