It's heartbreaking as people of the Northeast are still facing racism in their own country. In most of the places the people of Northeast are not treated well. It is very quotidian for a Northeast Indian to get marginalized for their looks, clothes, and lifestyle. A few people of their own country are unaware of the Northeastern States. They treat the northeast as a foreign region. Recently a YouTuber called an MLA from Arunachal Pradesh “Chinese or not Indian enough” due to his lack of knowledge. ‘Gamocha is basically an animal’: A coaching teacher calls Assam Cultural Symbol an Animal. For the unversed Gamocha is a red and white rectangular piece of woven cloth’ often gifted as a gesture of respect and appreciation.

The main reason behind this is that the Northeastern region is often not explored properly with the rest of India and its importance is often underestimated.

To make people understand the value of the Northeastern region, school textbooks must be redesigned to include chapters on North Eastern States — Arunachal Pradesh (Orchid State of India or the Paradise of the Botanists), Assam (Home to One Horned Rhinoceros), Manipur (Jewel state of India), Meghalaya (Abode of Clouds), Mizoram (Land of the Blue Mountains), Nagaland (Land of Festivals), Sikkim (Himalayan Paradise) and Tripura (Land of Diversity). And an account of the land, people, history, geography, culture, ethnicity to educate ‘mainland’ Indians. Moreover, the Government must take the responsibility for educating the country about the history, culture, and politics of Northeast India.

This will bring a positive impact and will lead to an end of the racial discrimination faced by the people and a harmonious relationship can be built among all the Indians. India is a well-known country for 'unity in diversity'. Let's try to make this happen in a veracious way.
