How do you own yourself in a world that wants to own you? We are living in a world where culture, advertising, and social media want to manipulate us. Basically telling us how we should feel, what we should wear, how we should find a partner, and how to become attractive or get attracted. Can we free ourselves from this control? If you have read Kelly Brogan's book "own yourself" talks about getting our self-sovereignty back by peeling off the layers of fake self we have become so much attached to, over the past decade. We have hampered our potential and kept our true-self hidden from shining.

Today's generation has been all about smart technologies and smartphones are the most common in this era. We all are aware of the feature called "filters" used in social media apps like Snapchat, Instagram, etc. which means our lives are comfortably filtered in smartphones and we've stopped accepting ourselves as what we truly are. We follow others blindly but here we can't own ourselves simply because we have forgotten our worth and need someone to keep reminding us. In today's fast-paced changing environment, owning oneself is a very important stage of personal development. We all are born with different traits, temperaments, and family backgrounds. The worst we can do is to not nurture ourselves and fit everyone in card boxes that fit our "accepted" mindset.

Is this necessary? Well, the idea here is gonna be different in my opinion which is amended given the situation. A need to overhaul the mindset of our typical society. There's this one factor that is not talked about- "subconscious mind". How does it relate? There's a miraculous power in our subconscious mind that heals, as our mind is like a magnet. It's a stepping stone towards changing society. We need to constantly convey the message to our subconscious mind about what's good or bad for us because it only understands and accepts the things we think for ourselves. This can be done through constant reinforcement by being yourself.

For instance, forget what others say to you or how they look at you. Today go out there, wear your most-liked dress, get yourself ready not for others, get your dreams to turn into reality, and do what makes you happy. No matter if something doesn't fit you whether you are short-sighted or healthy, no matter if you didn't achieve but you always have another way to do that. The day you realize this world doesn't fall apart when you do your things. The world focuses on looking good, not feeling good. We need to understand our mind, our body, and our soul is based on us. Be your creator of happiness by not allowing others to draw out possible factors for you. You can be sheep amongst wolves and still hold on to your own if you are confident of what you are capable of. Decide what should be your identity.

"The treasure house is within you." Are you ready to own one-self?
