The start of facing this competitive world
Making a career choice can be confusing decision. It is confusing because of the dilemma one has to go through. In the early years of schooling, looking up to a person as a role model as an inspiration or the positive outcomes of a certain career are the influential factors. This can be a result of fantasizing about the plus and minus of a career chosen by another. This decision-making done during the early years is not the result of practical thinking. In higher classes, one can analyze aptitude and abilities. Thereby, the decision made at this stage is a result of practical thinking.
The next step after school
After school is an important phase which is the intermediate between school and a degree or university course. This is where subjects are opted for after a proper self – analysis keeping in mind the ultimate goal. There are times when things don’t work out as expected. There is a saying expect the unexpected; always hope for the best but be prepared for the worst. Despite the efforts of a person, the results may not be as desired. Here a mistake made by many is the tendency to focus more on what is liked, and avoid the subjects that are disliked. This affects the overall performance. It is as good as man proposes; God disposes. Feeling heartbroken here is not a solution. The emotional breakdown does not allow logical and rational thinking. Instead, matters get complicated. Changing the line of study is possible. It is better to make such a change after a proper evaluation of strengths, weaknesses, and factors of poor performance. This includes an analysis of why is weakness in a particular subject observed.
Life in Degree College
One of my friends from my degree college once said degree is the cream of life; make the most out of it. Another told me this is the phase either you make your life or you break it. Both statements have a deep meaning to them. Life in a degree college is to be enjoyed but not by becoming a bookworm. Here, if changing the field of study was the only option out, difficulties may come up. Facing these difficulties with a calm mind is the best towards improve. Positive results can be observed.

The big question: what to take up after the degree?
This question causes chaos in the mind of a person. One gets confused as to whether to take up post-graduation or look for a job after completing graduation. One may get attracted to the working world. But it is not easy out there. Practical learning from the working world is very different from the theoretical bookish knowledge picked up in educational institutions. To gain this practical knowledge, taking up employment is better. To have a better value in the market pool, going for higher studies is better. In this regard, choosing post–graduation after having worked for around two years is also suitable. The reason behind this is, if one chooses post–graduation after a couple of years of working, it is a little difficult to stay away from working life. Where does one stand after having completed higher studies? The answer to this lies in how a person puts their abilities and education to use. Skillset is similar to a machine. When not put to use; it starts rotting.
Moving from college life to the practical world
Once done with post-graduation, it is better to move on to job hunting without any delay unless any inevitable situation arises. By an inevitable situation I mean, any circumstance wherein family becomes the priority over career and needs immediate and more attention. If there is a delay in starting job hunting, there arises a gap in the career graph which does not create a good impression. For a gap created the person will have to give a reason to any interviewer who questions about it. Cooking up a story here is not correct. Speaking out the genuine reason is advisable. This is speaking with communication and confidence as these two elements go hand in hand. Facing the tough working world does not depend upon grades and certificates. It depends upon the attitude and confidence of a person. Confidence is not just required in communication. Confidence is also the key to being successful in any interview. Other aspects to be kept in mind are body language and dressing style. Nervousness is a negative element if reflected in the body language of a person does not create a proper image. When it comes to moving from one job to another or changing careers, if done too often it gives the impression that the person is a job hopper though the person may not necessarily be so.
Dealing with a gap in the career graph
In the case of women, the thought of starting a career may crop in the mind after settling in life. Once kids are school-going, there is ample time available; it is good to give it a try to establish oneself. This is not easy because experience is the biggest weapon of a person.

Here also, self–analysis is required as to where one stands in the market pool. The market pool is full of fresh graduates and experienced personnel. There is a saying that better late than never. Once, enjoyment and pleasure are derived from working life, it is not easy to sit idle. An idle brain is a devil’s workshop. Sitting idle leads to overthinking which is equal to time wasted. This time can be invested in any fruitful action. The current scenario of work–from–home comes as a package of benefits where you can work at your convenience with the satisfaction of working.
I would like to conclude the note that this write–up is a result of my choices, decisions, and presently where I am.
