I never thought this path would wind
To a place where you linger in my mind.
There’s a spark, a pull, I can’t deny—
Though I know our paths weren’t meant to tie.
It’s true, my heart, at times, may stray,
Triggered by memories in a casual way—
Your voice, your laughter, that knowing gaze,
They sneak in my thoughts, they linger, they stay.
But I’m aware, my friend, of where you stand,
With another’s hand waiting to hold your hand.
It’s hard to face this truth, I know,
But it’s time to let these feelings go.
So I’ll step back, I’ll stand aside,
I’ll cherish the friendship and the moments we’ve tried.
For my heart needs healing, my soul needs peace,
It’s time for the longing within to cease.
I’ve saved pieces of you—like a picture or two,
But I know I must let those memories go too.
You were my anchor, my strength, my smile,
Now I need to let you walk your mile.
My world, it wavers—like rock, like stream,
Yet I strive to become what I truly dream.
It’s not an easy road, not one I’d choose,
But sometimes to win, we must first lose.
So let’s pull back, for both our sakes,
To let our hearts mend where they feel the ache.
You’ll always be a friend, dear and true,
But now it’s time to start anew.
For the future we seek, for the peace we deserve,
For love to be honored, and hearts to preserve.
This isn’t goodbye, just a careful pause,
To let life flow as it naturally draws.
So here’s my pledge to love myself more,
To find my footing, my peace, my shore.
You’ll always have a place in my heart,
But now, we walk our paths apart.
