Everyone knows the word 'Corruption', isn't it? We have studied about it when we were students or we researched about it to make our own essay for the preparation of government jobs. But it was all about preparing for examinations, right? We never realised it until we faced it.
We only realised the true power of corruption once we entered the bigger world, the real world which is full of hypocrites, fake people, snakes hiding among people, the people who will not think twice before stabbing someone for the sake of getting a promotion or getting a favour from the richer person. As the world is transforming from "face-to-face" to online mode, the corruption too seems to be transforming in that mode. For example, when we install a game on our computer or mobile phone we never want to spend a penny on it but some people lose their patience and start spending little by little. But as soon as you think you are winning the game the richer person will spend more only to beat you down and so you are not the winner anymore. This is not actual corruption, this I would say is a fair game. You have the money you spend it, it's your choice. Corruption comes when that person starts hating your guts for giving him competition every time so he starts doing anything to beat you and for that he starts paying other players to spy on you, he will not only use his money to buy packs in the game but also misuses his power and money only to defeat you every time. And people will obey him as he has the power to bribe or buy them.
If the person is very powerful then he can also become a life threat to you. You never know the person whom you are dealing with online. Whether it is in a game or in any social site we are not aware of the real identity of the person with whom we are interacting. Even if they keep profile pictures and claim that it's them, how can you say that the person in the profile picture is the real owner of that profile? There are lots of apps, creative technologies, and other digital software which people uses to change their own image and look different, also they use the photos illegally of the people who constantly share their photos in social medias or some legally buy the profiles of people which are being sold at some websites. Interesting? Or Scary?
It is very important for us to be aware of what we are intending to do online or if talking and keeping a connection with anyone online is safe or not. Just imagine if you keep on trusting that person and keep on sharing about yourself or you get emotionally attached to that person and then one day that person vanished from the site? You keep on searching for them in the social sites but what if that person never existed? What if their names, their identities, their photos, all were edited and were made only to fool you? Also, when you spend money in the game using your credit card or debit card, or e-wallet, you shouldn't be 100% sure that your payment will be secured. Well, this was only a small example from the dark side of the online gaming world. Now how about looking at the dark side of the online social world? We are grown up adults we are now aware of all the fakeness of social sites like fake accounts, edited photos and videos made for entertainment or to get popularity to earn rewards or money. Since the time people got to know about the earning by making videos online, people have gone crazy on making videos of anything and everything. On one hand, we are suggesting our next generations to focus on their studies and become a good people, on the other hand, we get glad when they get several likes and comments on their videos.
It's too confusing to understand if we are using the technology or the technology is using us. Matured people are making videos like psychos out of a mental hospital or making inappropriate videos on the same platform as the kids. Adult or not adult everyone is using the internet, they are all watching everything which is supposed to be for only a limited audience. Then there are people who are getting more subscribers by bribing people only to make accounts and subscribe to them. You will find popular people with genuine subscribers and popular people with half of the subscribers with fake accounts. Then there are chat fights of people on culture or religion or countries. People are making videos according to their own taste against the religion or countries they hate and spreading it to the world. Not everyone tries to find out the actual truth behind the videos, there are people who are going to watch and believe it and start having a negative mindset about other religions or countries.
The true videos of incidents get lost in the midst of all the fake videos that circulated because the fake ones are backed by powerful people who don't want the world to see their true faces. Money and power vanishes the true articles, photos and videos from the media which are left with only what they want the audience to see. Videos of violence, bad language, or explicit videos are being shared normally in social sites. The least we can do is to at least activate the parental control in our search engine for small kids before handing them your mobile phone. Another thing which has become common nowadays is scamming people through phone calls or online lotteries and asking them to open their e-wallet to pay and then what? Your money was taken away from an unknown source? Well, the moment you open your app, your screen got hacked and your password was seen easily by the hacker, so it was not a big deal for the hacker to transfer your money to his account. Ethical hacking has become a good source of income in today's world but people have started using it unethically. How will you know if your private life is not being watched by someone else? Are you sure about it? Don't worry, hacked or not hacked life goes on. Keep calm and enjoy, everything comes with a bright and dark side (winks).
