When you sit down and think about the term, chaos, all you come up with is uncertainty and unreliability with a tinge of insanity. This is the most that a human brain can comprehend about chaos.
It goes against every ounce of the human nature to believe otherwise.
Recently, I was watching WandaVision and I came across multiple fantasy terms, out of which the most prominent one to stick with me was Chaos Magic. Now, I have no knowledge about the magic part of this term but if you observe it minutely, you realize that it is a force of power conjured because of chaos. Chaos of thoughts. Chaos of feelings and emotions. The magic was connected and tied up with the chaos in her mind and her body. That same chaos determined whether her next step will be rational, irrational or just downright insane. When the series ended, there was this last scene, a credit scene, I think, where she was astroprojecting and there were two of them. Normally, in the world of fantasy and supernaturals, Astro projection is said to be done with the host body in a sleep like coma and their soul getting projected wherever they want it to be. But hers was moving freely around in places, with her drinking tea and everything. I realize you all are thinking about why I am talking about astro projection, out of nowhere. But bear with me. After watching this scene, I realized, this was possible because of her immense power, which was obviously being drawn from her chaos.
But the most mundane thing that caught my attention more was how calm and silent she was when she was astro projecting. That is when I realized it.
When there is silence in the most unexpected places, it definitely has an underlayer of chaos. When a person or a place has unwanted or unexpected silence around them, it is mostly, if not always, because of an internal chaos. Anything that looks calm and too good to be true on the outside, will most probably have the biggest and the messiest chaos within. These kind of scenarios get created because such people don't really see the point in voicing their chaos. They are mostly interested in keeping with themselves and don't like the world taking up their space. They build up walls to keep the chaos within from getting out and keep people out because of the fear of getting exposed to the world, where judgements and harsh opinions are in abundance.
Chaos is not uncertainty or unreliability but just a distorted view of the reality of this world. It makes people see the world in its realistic form, rather than a rosy view. Some of our ancient texts also call, the space of nothingness, as chaos. But the world still manages to work through it, doesn't it?
Chaos and the metaphorical silence brought by it are not the enemies. It all depends on how well it is within control. As something as volatile as chaos, it is important to know that there is very fine line between irrationality and insanity. It has the capacity to make or break a situation, but most importantly, make or break the human being.
I took an example of the fiction world to express my views and feelings about chaos and the silence followed by it. But this is much more clear and evident in real life too. This gives rise to high walls and limited speech. The most unexpected person, who you thought was rude for not responding to you the way you wanted, might just have a war going on inside their head, which is completely unexplainable and uncontrollable, on their part.
So the next time you come across an overly shy or a silent person, don't mistake it for rudeness or narcissism but instead consider the possibility of a chaotic mind.
