B.R Ambedkar rightly said - “India is an indestructible union of destructible states.”

INDIA, a country of gargantuan diversity, is beautifully depicted as the most pious land with the most efficacious principles and values.

The northern crown, the tapering south, and the beautiful conglomeration of east and west just complete our India. It is the collective beauty of each state which makes up the exquisite Indian subcontinent. When we talk about the rich culture, heritage, customs, and traditions of the Indian mainland, we need to pass on our magnifying glass through the North-Eastern states, situated in the extreme east of the Indian mainland.

North-East India comprises of the seven adjoining states of Arunachal, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Tripura, along with Sikkim. These are regarded as the seven sisters with Sikkim as their brother.

North-East Indian states symbolize the most diverse culture, traditions, ethnicity, and languages. It has perhaps the best resources to foster the overall development of India.

Globally, India is regarded as a developing country by various international organizations. The GDP of India lies in the “intermediate” range, amongst that of the developed and the underdeveloped countries of the world. It is somewhat an astonishing fact that even after 75 years of Independence we are not standing on the top pedestal of development and are surprisingly, far off from that position.

Swami Vivekananda has rightly quoted -

“Everyone must be ready for it-the conquest of the whole world by India-nothing less than that, and we must all get ready for it, strain every nerve for it…”

Since then, India has made several developments in multiple domains of innovation. Be it sports, science, space, or economy, India has climbed up to the next level and showcased a sense of growth and achievement.

The victorious saga of Neeraj Chopra is not at all unheard of in any Indian household. He received immense plaudits for his gold at the recent Olympics games. The 5-G rollout has demonstrated how India is advancing in the field of technology and catering to the fast-speed Internet service demands of its citizens.

Purvottar Kalyan is an initiative which focuses on the area of development with regard to the Northeastern state and stands as a broad visionary thought for the entire nation.

Recently, on 13th June 2022, our honorable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Damodardas Modi, through his social media handles, underlined the various initiatives which were laid down under the ‘Purvottar Kalyan Mission’ for the all-round enhancement of the North-East during the last 8 years.

Purvottar Kalyan focuses on the creation of an all-weather infrastructure, better healthcare facilities, good quality education, and popularisation of the rich cultures and heritage of the various North-Eastern states.

Its motto is to bring about the North-Eastern states on the same level of growth as that of the Indian mainland and states. Somehow, due to poor connectivity and lack of infrastructural progress, Northeast India has been lagging in some of the amenities which other states of India are bestowed with.

Thus, to bring progress in the various sectors of the North-Eastern economy- the ‘Purvottar Kalyan-Ek Vikas Engine’ has remarkably contributed to and has really brought about humongous benefits to the natives of the states.

Some of the highlights of the Purvottar Kalyan Scheme can be briefly summarized, below-

  1. A shortfall in the incidents of Insurgency to a 74% low in the various states of North-East India.
  2. Successful construction of the ‘Bogibeel Bridge’ was a remarkable contribution to the infrastructural development of the North-Eastern states.
  3. Establishment of the ‘All India Institute of Medical Science’ (AIIMS) in Guwahati, the capital of the state of Assam.
  4. Establishment of the ‘National Sports University’ in the state of Manipur.
  5. Decrement in the number of AFSPA (Armed Forces Special Powers Act) implemented states.

and many more…

Thus, these achievements not only speak about the success of the ‘Purvottar Kalyan Mission’ but also bring about the united vision of excellence of our national leader, Mr. Narendra Modi, for the entire nation.

Purvottar Kalyan has brought about a tremendous surge in connectivity and transport services within the North-Eastern states. Citizens of the Northeast benefitted on a large scale because of the establishment of several schools, colleges, hospitals, and many more infrastructural amenities. The crime rate and incidents of rebellions have really dwindled.

We look forward to more such developments in North-East India.

As an old Chinese saying goes- ‘Northing can separate people with common goals and ideals; not even mountains and seas…’

Thus, we all need to join our hands together and stand up with our leaders, with all our might to contribute in the betterment of our society and in the advancement of our country.

Remember -

“We need to have that faith, each one of us, in ourselves, that eternal power is lodged in every soul, and we will revive the whole of India….”

Let us all, promise each other to make India what our forefathers, our ancestors, and our freedom fighters have dreamt of,

Let us make India once again- ‘The Sone ki Chidiya’.
