It was a day when I was on my way back home after classes. After waiting almost for an hour the bus arrived, and I got in. I can say by seeing the faces of my co-passengers that they all are exhausted since everyone is off from their classes and work. The bus was free compared to usual but all the seats were taken.

The next stop arrived but no one got off, a woman in her 30s holding a baby got in and the bus started. She tried to sit in a seat for lactating mothers but the old lady did not intend to get up and acted as if she slept.

People are too occupied with their chitchats and social media and no one cares. I tried to ask a girl beside me where I stood but she refused and said with a stern expression “I am also not feeling well.”

The eyes of that mother got teary, and she was struggling to hold the handle and the baby too. Then like a princess, a young girl in a black and white floral frock in the back seat got up saying “Sister, you can sit here”.

Though it was a small act of giving a seat which is no cost, no one dared to do it that made her an angel. Her positive attitude changed the mood in the face of that woman and replaced it with a thankful smile.

I asked “Where will you get off” She gave me a pleasant smile and replied last stop. my eyes widened realizing it would be an hour's journey. I thanked her for her selflessness. And I chuckled listening to her. She said she got up because she felt guilty sitting there seeing me asking the girl before but got refused.

Minutes passed and we both got seats together, her open-mindedness made us friends we shared our Instagram id’s. “Now Kriti and Meena are friends made on the bus” she chuckled saying that. and I got off bidding bye to Kriti as my stop arrived. From then we met quite often and I am blessed to have her as my friend.

It's been a 3 years that this situation has happened and her exhausted face with a pleasant smile hasn’t left my mind. We became soulmates, not in the terms of lovers but it involves understanding each other on a deep emotional and spiritual level. we shared from our hopes to dreams to our secrets.

The Young girl in a black and white floral dress is now sitting beside her better half in a maroon gold-toned Banarasi wedding saree. She deserves the best and she got him.

Kriti WEDS Pranay, their journey started...
