In this World, Abandoned ghost towns exist in many countries, with empty homes and buildings. They left everything behind and have gone out. Normally the reasons why people abandon towns are many. For example, a small town might be created when people went to work in gold mines, and when it ran out of resources People will leave that place and move to another, or else some natural calamities or war also might be a reason, So in an active town like this there is a lot of reason for the people to leave the place.

In Alaska, only in North America there are more than 100 abandoned towns and everything was left behind for the reasons I discussed previously, But except one town, Why did the people suddenly leave that place? In that particular ghost town? There is a strange, unique, horrible, and dark reason. That town in Alaska is called the Portlock.

Introduction

The town which is located in a remote area. An unexpected thing began to happen, They began to fear to walk alone outside, at one stage all the men in the town began to disappear at an alarming rate. Those missing persons mutilated bodies, were found in the lake in between the forest.

They left all the things behind and left town, because people who lived there, thought that it was enough to be alive, and some people have seen “it” which is the reason for the people to leave. So what is there in that remote town? What did they see? And what happened to the people there?

The origin of Portlock

You can see the map about the place, Portlock is located in Alaska in North America on the Kenai peninsula it is one of the most beautiful places in Alaska, But it is in an extremely remote area, How remote is that mean, to go there only bush plane and boats are used. Actually, in 1787 it was found by a captain named Nathaniel Portlock. In the 19th century, fishermen built a cannery there.

Cannery is nothing but preserving and Filling the fish in the tin cans and sealing it, and since the business went well in 1921, the American government thought that it might become a major fishing hub. They built a post office there, Like this, everything went well. Until the one day. News spread among the people that something was there in Portlock.

Mysterious things started happening

The reason for that is the men in the town Started disappearing at an alarming rate, and some of them were found again. But they were dead with their mutilated bodies. That is their dead body which was destroyed, And their bodies were found in the lagoon lake. Actually, at first, what they thought was it could be a bear attack. But the people in the Kenai peninsula saw what happened in the portlock. And found that it was not a bear attack and it was a creature called Nantinaq.

The Nantinaq

Nantinaq is half human and half animal, and with a body full of hair it is very tall and walks on two legs. It is said to be that it lives in the forest where the present town people are staying. You may think that it might be a folklore or any myth, that could be an urban legend related to their culture.

But from 1930 till 1950, many people in Portlock town started disappearing in mysterious circumstances, or horrible dead bodies of the missing people were found in the forest. What is inside the forest? You might think what might be the reason?

Not only that since the missing people were never found again, And even though they were found again since only their dead bodies were found, What happened to them and the description of why they were attacked was not known, except in one case.

A Person Who Escaped From ”It”

In 1943, a person named John Myer lived in Portlock town. One day, he was camping in the forest. Suddenly he felt like something was moving in his back. When he turned around in a fraction of a second it scratched his neck, face, and back and started beating him. Slowly he is losing consciousness because of pain. At the same time, his dog started barking at it, and then immediately it was scared and ran away.

Now John, who was attacked, woke up and looked at what attacked him, he saw a big humanoid figure between dark trees covered with hair, running into the forest. After some time people came there in search of him because it was already evening, and it was not safe to stay until dawn. They saw him on the ground without consciousness. When they rescued him he said what happened to him, But he died before taking him to the hospital because of severe wounds.

Aftermath

Now, after this incident, some men went into the forest to hunt. There they noticed a terrible thing. When they went into the forest they saw a 18 inch that is 45 cm footprint. They were shocked by seeing a big footprint. When they followed the footprint they reached a place. In that place, they noticed some struggle there. Blood was splattered there everywhere. They could understand that two big animals fought there. They also saw some body parts lying there, it was the body parts of a bear or moose.

After that, the big footprint went towards the hill, But they decided not to follow it anymore. This is such a horrifying discovery that even in Alaska newspaper they mentioned something was wrong in Portlock. Some argue that it is a crime, but some people believe that something unnatural is happening there.

Legacy Continues

Since then number of people disappearing in that town and they were found in the lagoon lake gradually increased. So people thought that it was not a safe living place. They decided not to live there anymore. On one fine night, they left everything behind and left the town. But one person was in decided to stay there. Because he was the postmaster in the town.

Only if the government closes the post office he can go so he waits until he shuts down the post office. But he used to be afraid every day. Sometimes, he saw something roaming in that forest. And heard some screaming and roaring at night from the forest. Because of that, the government closed the post office in a few days. Hence the one person who stayed there left and went off. So officially Portlock’s population is zero.

Fisherman camp

After that, no one from the Portlock or their family returned there. In 1970, due to a storm, some fishermen landed there. When they set up a camp and stayed there. They saw a big thing between the trees. Seeing that they were scared and packed the camp immediately, for which storm they were afraid and came here as refugees. Now they were afraid of the thing here and went back to the storm.

Does anyone go there other than the fishermen means, Yes. To see what it is there after hearing this story. They went there with interest but never returned. There are no photographs or videos of modern portlock because no one came back. But there is only one modern creepy photo. And this is that photo.

The house that you see in the photo which was the only one without collapsing at the edge of the forest. In that forest behind the house is the last time the man who went missing was seen. From there, at a close distance, the bodies of the dead were found. Even though you didn’t trust the Natinaq story, But in the forest you are seeing now has something which killed everyone. But if we see that photo without knowing the reason for the murder. It is the creepiest photo on the internet.
