Once we were one, souls entwined in two bodies,
Through the streets, we strolled,
Inseparable, our bond is forever true,
An unbreakable duo.
Sharing secrets and laughter with glee,
Whispering stories under a tree.
Judging those who wore masks so brightly,
Concealing truths from morning till night.
Teasing elders, full of youthful might,
Lost in memories of their golden light.
Each of our steps marked a task,
In a world just built for us.
The sun would watch us from afar,
Mocking us for our haughtiness.
The stars chose to stay silent,
As always, they were the hushed spectators.
Side-by-side we watched the seasons change,
Orange autumn leaves dispersed,
Winter's blanket took its place.
With a heart brimming with untold devotion,
A tale was spun; there awaited visitors.
Alas! Time just did not spare us,
Mocking us for being so slow.
I knew those falsely painted smiles of yours,
Those eyes which were camouflaging,
So skilled at hiding some pain.
Yet I chose to turn a blind eye,
Helpless against that curse,
Which only time could heal?
The bends and twists we faced,
Nothing seemed insurmountable.
Our paths diverged, by fate spurned.
Once we were one, now far too long.
Now I walk alone, my heart yearns,
For you, my friend, for whom I burn.
How long has it been,
Since the last time we held hands?
Together we walked, facing every fear,
Now all alone, what do I hold dear?
