'I will punch your face and will change it's colour to dark blue, you bloody Chamaeleon', said Andy to his supervisor Ronald.

A few days ago, Andy and his team members got news regarding a project. Along with the project, there was a raise as well as a promotion. Everyone was very excited but to get selected and to lead this project, every team member was required to solve one riddle. This test was conducted to check everyone's knowledge, talent, and leadership quality.

On the day of the test, everyone was handed a label on which the riddle was written. To avoid discrimination all were given the same riddle.

The riddle was:

What belongs to you but other people use it more than you?

Everyone started thinking but was unable to find any answer. After thinking for a long, suddenly Andy saw himself in a mirror and he got an inkling about the riddle. With a smile, he stood up and pointed towards himself, he said, 'My name, because it belongs to me but as I am very helpful and friendly, everyone in the office uses my name and calls me to solve their problems. This proves my knowledge, talent and if given a chance I will surely prove my leadership quality too.

The selection committee was impressed with Andy's answer and chose him to lead the project. Everyone was happy for Andy except his supervisor Ronald who thought if Andy succeeds in this project, he might get selected for the Supervisor position which can bring his job in danger and he might get fired because though being a junior, Andy was perfect for him in everything. So an evil thought crossed his mind and he decided to do something cruel.

Andy and his team members started working on the project. Day and night, Andy's mind was filled with projects. By hook or crook, he wanted to prove his ability and fulfill his dream.

While thinking, Andy saw a picture of him and his mother, carrying him in her lap. An emotion ran through him and with his watery eyes he picked the photo and brought it near to his heart. A series of events ran in front of his eyes. His childhood, his family's poverty, the death of his father, his mother working as a maid, the shortage of food and clothes, and his mother's struggle to teach him and make him capable. His only dream was to reach his dream position and make his mother proud.

When he was thinking about the future, he received a call from one of his team members regarding the project. Everyone was waiting for him in a conference room to discuss regarding it. Andy reached the conference hall and for a few hours, all the team members got busy preparing their plans and strategies.

With a lot of effort, finally, they were able to complete the work on their project. After finalising everything Andy's assistant copied their project details onto a floppy and handed it over to Andy so that he can present same on the next day in front of the management committee.

Andy was about to leave the conference hall, when Ronald, his hidden enemy who do not want him to succeed approached him and asked for his help to fix some technical issues in his presentation which he is supposed to present in the coming days in front of their important clients. He was aware that being a sensitive person, Andy would never deny anyone for help, and as per his expectation Andy decided to help him. While getting up in a hurry Andy forgot his project floppy on the desk and went to Ronald's office to fix the problem. A cruel thought ran through Ronald's mind. Picking up the floppy, with a sarcastic smile he kept it in his coat's pocket.

The problem faced by him was very minute hence it didn't take long for Andy to rectify it. After fixing the problem Andy got up and informed him about his completion of the project. Ronald patted him on his shoulder and wished him 'All the best'. With a smile, Andy accepted his best wishes and left for home completely forgetting about the project floppy which he has kept on the desk in the conference room. He was super excited about the presentation and didn't sleep the whole night.

On the day of the presentation, he reached the office in time to check the preparation. When he reached reception, he was informed that he was replaced by Ronald to lead this project. Hearing this, Andy got numb and could not believe the words that he heard.

Anger arose within him and running towards Ronald he caught his collar and said, 'I will punch your face and will change it's colour to dark blue, you bloody Chamaeleon'.

As he was about to punch him, someone called Andy and he came back to his senses. Last evening Ronald presented the project made by Andy in front of the secretary of the CEO in his own name. As Andy was new in this field and in order to avoid risk, CEO's secretary appointed Ronald as a project head. The presentation made by Andy was a top one among all the presentations which were presented before in this office. But due to Ronald's lie and considering his seniority, CEO's secretary believed his word and no doubt crossed his mind.

Andy could not believe it and was unable to process this event. Quickly he remembered that yesterday while helping Ronald he forgot the floppy in the conference room and how easily Ronald fooled him. His whole body was shivering but accepting his fate, Andy sat down to watch the presentation which was made by him with a lot of effort but right now presented by Ronald in front of his eyes.

Moral of the story: 

Some people are very talented and knowledgeable. They work hard and put in effort but when the situation arises, they could not stand up for themselves or for their loved ones, just like Andy. They become furious just in their mind. Andy could have fought but he decided to keep silent forgetting about his and his team members' efforts. So beware of such people as they are hazardous for our mental health because they always play as victims.
