It's not too old, it happened to happen just a few months ago. As I remember I applied for many internships after my classes of the first year of my Bachelor’s of Technology in one if the prestigious engineering colleges of India, National Institute of Technology, Raipur. I knew that I had applied for the virtual or work-from-home internship because I wanted to do the internship along with my classes and I waited for the selection process.

It took a few days but I got short-listed in two or three organisations for their further process. I finished the tasks assigned to me by the organisation and waited for the next round of shortlisting but there was an NGO where I had also applied for a volunteering intern role which was unpaid, though it was unpaid I had no regret about it that I will not get paid because volunteering is work which should be done selflessly, without the thought what they will get paid. This NGO was selecting the volunteering interns by the application only and I was one of them. I got selected by the NGO for the role and was unable to get the role in others, but it was a good start.

As an intern, I was given five numbers of tasks, which their NGO works on. Each task had allotted time to finish the task, majorly it was one week or three days. The first task was to raise some amount of funds for the NGO and the allotted time was one week. I talked to my school teachers and some seniors about it to raise some amount of funds and at the end of the allotted time, I got only 251 rupees. I prepared the report and submitted it.

The second task was not that easy, the task was to increase the reach of the NGO on social media platforms either on Instagram, YouTube or LinkedIn by the number of fifteen in three or four days. For this, I asked all my school friends, and my coaching mates and finally, I finished this task on time. I prepared the report and list of every person's ID and platform followed the NGO and submitted it to the head.

The third task was easy, the task was to help someone who was in need, either a small help or big but it was to bring smiles to the faces. It was instructed that one can also Give chocolate to a child to bring a smile to their face. For the proof, one selfie must be submitted to the NGO about it and I helped my friend who was unable to operate his PC properly, I helped him in doing so and I submitted the same.

The rest two tasks were not that big but had conditions for it. The fourth task was to feed the animal record a video of it and submit it but the condition was that the animal must not be a pet, it must be a stray. I did the same I fed an ox to complete the work but it was very satisfying to me. In the end, it was to plant a sapling along with friends but the condition was to plant it somewhere, where there is low greenery in the local area, the area must not be a park or garden. I took time to search the area and finally planted a mango sampling which is growing well in that place.

The last two works were quite satisfying to me and made me feel good. This is how I was awarded a one-month experience letter and a grade of 'S' in my work and an industrial achievement certificate with a letter of recommendation.

The one month working like this along with the classes became a good part of my life. At last, I would say try making someone smile, feed animals and plant saplings and take care of it, these give you inner peace and satisfaction.
