Nikhil had heard that Jyotirmoy Acharya always fulfilled whatever people asked for.

One day, Nikhil visited Jyotirmoy Acharya and asked, 'Baba, I'm Nikhil, want to earn more money. I have tried, but I failed to earn more.'

Baba asked Nikhil, 'Beta, why do you want to earn more money?'

Nikhil said, 'Baba, money is expensive, so I want to earn this'!

Baba asked, 'I think you want to earn an expensive thing, right'?

Nikhil said, 'Yes'.

Baba smiled and said, 'Okay! Give me three days, and you have to stay here in my ashram for three days only, and I'll show you the path to earn expensive things'.

The next day, Baba told Nikhil, ' Beta, go and visit the village.

'Nikhil went to visit, and at a certain distance, Nikhil heard some people shouting; he reached there and asked a person why the fruitseller shouted at the boy?''

The man said, 'The boy has stolen an apple from the basket of the fruitseller but just stood silently, not confessing anything.'

Nikhil goes in front of that boy and asks, 'Little boy, Have you stolen an apple from fruitseller uncle'?

The boy cried and said, 'Yes, I'm so hungry that I can't stop myself from stealing those apples.'

Nikhil told that fruitseller, 'Uncle, I'm paying you the price, so let the little one go.'

But the fruit seller refused to take the money and gave two more apples to the little boy and offered him to earn money by helping sell his fruits and asked Why don't you tell me that before, dear? I'm happy to see your faithful confession' wiping out his tears.

Nikhil returned to the ashram and explained everything to Acharya. Acharya smiled and asked Nikhil, 'What did you learn from this happenings'?

Nikhil said, 'The boy is very faithful and honest that he confessed the truth and that fruit seller helped him to see his trustworthiness. So, Faith is an expensive thing.

Acharya smiled at Nikhil and went away.

On the second day, when Nikhil was roaming in the village, he saw a man running while holding a wallet tightly in his hand. Everybody caught him and beat him a lot, and at that moment, a handsome person came and saved the poor man.

He told all, 'This poor man is my old servant, Anup, and he has been working in my house for 12 years or more. Today, I was going to shop with Anup, and when I opened the wallet to pay the shopkeeper, someone snatched it and ran away. To see this, Anup chased him and caught that thief. So don't beat him. He is my very faithful servant, and he again proved himself.'

Nikhil returned to the ashram and said everything to Acharya and his disciples. Acharya smiled at his disciples, and they said unitedly, 'Faith is an expensive thing.'

On the third day, Acharya told all his disciples a story:

A farmer had two sons. He trusted his elder son. His youngest son always complained about it. One day, the farmer told his elder son to clean the cowshed and gave a thali laddoo to his youngest son with 40 empty packets. He told him, "Son, here are 400 laddos, please pack ten laddos in each packet'. And he went away. He returned in the afternoon and was happy to see his elder son complete his work neatly and cleanly. After that, he went to see the laddos packets. He was surprised to see his youngest son was sleeping beside the laddos thali. Some laddos are scattered here and there, and a maximum number of laddos broke in the packets. The work is a mess. He scolded his youngest son, 'See how to mess in your entire work! You were always complaining about your elder brother's faithfulness. Now, see why I trusted your elder brother! He is very faithful to his work.

To hear this story, Nikhil said, 'Yes, Acharya, I understood the value of Faith. Faith is an expensive thing.'
