Every child born into this world first meets a woman named Mother. As life progresses a person meets different versions of this divine person we call woman. She becomes a sister, a friend, a wife, and a daughter. But our patriarchal society of ours depicts women as second-class citizens, as a person that is dominated by male chauvinists. Even to this day and age the sufferings of a woman regarding the topic have not changed very much. Women of this world have proved themselves in the fields where males once had absolute authority, be it, a pilot, a loco pilot, the border security, on the war ground to even the president of several countries. With all this evidence, the society (chauvinists) still gives pure negligence to them be it minimum wages or even respect.
Some people see a woman as a person who is a pristine servant who caters to the needs of her husband, takes care care of her child, cooks ‘delicious’ food, and launders clothes. But those people do not realize that they are here, and they have become who they are all because of a woman to support them, sacrificed for him, loved for him, and hence paved the way for him.
From the moment we were in the womb, the beautiful yet painful process of giving birth, the crucial role of raising the child to the molding of the person who we are, the roles played by them are irreplaceable. As men, we should never forget that often time the pride we take in being a man is largely built upon the women who cared for us and were there for us.
The moment we as a society realize that a woman is equal to or maybe above men, we would not have to find a day to celebrate them and call it a ‘Women’s day’. However, for now, I appreciate and thank all the women out there and wish each one of them a heartfelt Women’s Day.
