“Can you not throw the wet towel on the bed?” Madhu shouted. Madhumita and Abhimanyu have been together since 8 years now. They are in a live in relationship for 5 years and can almost be called husband and wife. They live together at a rented apartment in Lake Town. Working in the same office, same friend circle makes them stay together even when they fight. Madhu and Abhi are the representatives of the generation called gen-z cum millennial. Okay now you must be thinking what that is. It is the most important generation, mixture of dynamic acids, salts and bases, a little chemistry because that’s where this love story started. It was quite evident that these two belonged there. They were modern but Abhi always made those not so great feminist comments and Madhu would say things like, “Boys don’t cry”. Coming back to present scene, Madhu stormed from the master bedroom holding the wooden comb almost to kill Abhi today just when someone knocked the door. She stopped, looked at him, her breath pacing faster with every second and her eyes were enough to kill Abhi today. Abhi being the idiot he is, smiled. It was 6:30 p.m. and a Saturday evening. Madhu walked up to the door, calming herself. As soon as she pulled the lock she saw a man standing. Now because I have seen everything and as readers you can see nothing I would take the pleasure to describe the man. His age was in late 50s. He was fat, tummy bulging out and a lot of beard. He was wearing a simple shirt and pants and had lot of pamphlets in his hand. He handed one of them to him. Madhu took and slowly closed the door. Now before I tell you anything more as readers you have to understand how these two compounds react with each other. You know I have learnt a lot of chemistry with them. Madhu, Madhumita Sen 5’4 in height, chubby, quite fair, has a small mole near her lower lips on the left and have to mention that it is the reason Abhi looked at her at first. She is very beautiful, studious shy and pretty sophisticated. Wakes up at 6 every morning and has a healthy lifestyle. Her twitter bio says her to be an ardent feminist. I have serious doubts but moving on to Abhi. Abhimanyu Ray, 5’8 in height, thin with a little beard on his chin. He was handsome, possibly the common crush of all girls in school and college. Oops a little physics is necessary too. He was the life of any party. He could be called beauty with brains. But his 90s sexist comments didn’t leave him even today. So the word beauty might affect him. You all don’t believe me, hold on then. Last day these so called adults walked in fighting with each other. Why, because Madhu told Abhi that her bra strap tore in the middle of the street. “Abhi when will you become a little open minded?” Madhu said to which Abhi replied saying, “I am, just not an ardent feminist you see. Their relationship was smooth but now there were some puddles, rashes, bumpers and stones. They would never understand each other. Madhu woke up at 6 and Abhi 12. Complete opposites but they were in love. Now coming back to present day, Madhu read the advertisement aloud. It said, “Missing your partner but relationship not fine call KISSMISS centre at 8340567899.” Abhi looked up at Madhu immediately when she called the number. He was going to stop her just when a person from the other side said Hello! Abhi looked as Madhu in awe that she called some centre to fix their relationship problems. After a long conversation on the phone Madhu said that they will go there on tomorrow at 2p.m. Abhi sat on the sofa with a force which felt like an earthquake. Fast forward to next day, they dressed up and ready to leave. As soon as they were leaving Abhi asked Madhu whether she was sure or not. Madhu stormed out leaving Abhi with no option. They sat in the cab, with pin drop silence. You know those ladies handbags are quite the representative of how couples are. If they are on one side couples are good and if in the middle then something is wrong. Never mind let’s focus on the KISSMISS centre now. They reached the destination and it was a shabby place. Abhi still in denial was forced to go in. As soon as they opened the door they saw the same man who came to their house the previous day. He welcomed them. They sat and looked around the room. The man spoke up and asked what their problem was. Abhi looked at Madhu in disgrace. Madhu said, “Sir, we really don’t understand each other.” The man looked at her with his eyebrow raised. She continued, “Like, he gets angry if my male colleagues hug me, we live in the 20th century and how can he think this?” Abhi protested saying, “Sir, she doesn’t like my female friends, she always speaks bad and then I can’t be possessive.” They went on arguing and finally, the man said that they from the next day will understand each other. She gave them a ball, it looked horrendous but he told them to touch it and think of their partners. Very unsure and disgusted by now, they both did as they were told. After exactly 4mins and 36 seconds they were asked to leave. They went back home and I waited for the next day. The next day Madhu woke up when her phone rang. She picked up and Abhi shouted, “Are you still sleeping? It is already 12 in the afternoon Madhu.” Madhu looked at the phone and just told meet me at the office. She couldn’t believe she woke up this late. After office Madhu and Abhi sat questioning everything they did today. Madhu said, “I was sitting with my legs wide open when a senior came and said to sit properly. I was like what on earth is even happening.” Just when Abhi said, “Today our project manager was saying that he would leave early to buy sarees for his wife and I just randomly gave him four options. I am 24 Madhu and I haven’t even gone to such shops.” They were confused. Abhi woke up at 6 today and did everything Madhu would do. Just when they realised what the man had told them yesterday. They looked at each other. Abhi murmured, “Did our souls exchange?” Madhu stunned in disbelief. They rushed back to the place only to find nothing there. Somehow even the number was not found in the call logs and nobody remembered the number. They were panic-stricken. They had exchanged personalities now. Just when they were walking Madhu saw the same poster on the other side of the street. They ran there just when a child tore it off from the wall and threw it away. They both looked at the torn paper and realised this was their fate. Now they can understand each other for the rest of their lives. Abhi held Madhu’s hands and walked towards their homes. Oh did I introduce myself? I am Bablu, a water bottle. Abhi gifted Madhu me when they were in 12. From then till now I travel with Madhu everywhere. Now reader tell me, Did this exchange offer help them?
