William Shakespeare penned, “And though she be but little, she is fierce”. And if anyone can truly convey this quote then that person is Jyoti Kisange Amge, the world's smallest woman. Actor, lecturer, record holder, and more importantly a dreamer, this woman is a true inspiration for those who hold dreams in their eyes and dare to achieve them even in adverse conditions.

World's smallest woman, Jyoti Amge was born on 16 December 1993 in Nagpur, India. Jyoti was just like any other average kid until she reached the age of five, according to her mother, Ranjana. However, after a few years, it became very evident that Jyoti is diagnosed with some kind of disorder. It subsequently emerged that she has a form of dwarfism called achondroplasia, although she was provided with a desk and chair more applicable for her tiny size.

After completing her education, Jyoti first came into the limelight globally in 2009. She appeared on Fuji TV's Bikkuri Chojin, there she was measured by doctors on the show and was found to be just 61. 95 cm tall, confirming her as the Smallest living female teenager with 5.4 kg weight. And remarkably, she weighed only 4 kg more than her birth weight. Her bubbly personality was displayed on TV and she liked being on screen with her make-up and fashion. Jyoti shortly developed the ambitions of becoming an actress. In the same year, she appeared in a video for a song by Bhangra star Mika Singh and was also featured in the Channel 4 documentary Bodyshock, in an episode titled, ‘Two Foot Tall Teen’.

Jyoti's journey blossomed more when she turned 18. On 16 December 2011, she turned 18 and took the title of Smallest Living Woman from Guinness World Records. She was measured by orthopedic consultant Dr. Pahurmar at the Wockhardt Superspecialty Hospital in Nagpur, and Guinness World Records adjudicator Rob Molloy was active there to observe all the proceedings. The world's smallest woman's height was taken at different times of the day, this is because spine compression results in the body's height to change over the 24 hours. She was found to be 62.8 cm, shorter than the previous record-holder 69-cm-tall, Bridgette Jordan from the USA.

In an interview with Daily News she said that “Now everything is in my reach”, and “I put myself into challenges and I just go for it”, she added. Jyoti took many courageous steps to fulfill her ambitions. In 2012, she appeared as a guest on a reality TV show, Big Boss. And in 2014, she signed up for the fourth season of the popular US TV series, American Horror Story.

In an interview with ABC News, she said that “People like me might be small in stature, but they can also act”, and “Regular people should not underestimate people who are small”. In another recent interview with TLC, Jyoti Amge said that she wants to act in various movies and she also opened up about her dreams of winning an Oscar. As an actor, the world's smallest woman got more fame with American Horror Story, and now she is ready to continue to act. But due to COVID 19 pandemic, many Hollywood productions are on hold, and Jyoti is waiting for some projects to start. She told TLC that her ultimate goal is to be famous enough so “that everybody around the world knows her and she reaches the point of Oscars”. The world's smallest woman, Jyoti Amge is proving to the entire world that one should not quit after achieving something big and keep hustling in life with bigger ambitions and dreams.
